GoxVegan Plant Based Café - Vegan Comfort Food

goxvegan food review header

Formerly known as Juicesabel, GoxVegan is a relatively new café in the BGC area that has a 100% vegan menu. We went there during the tail end of the Holy Week (Black Saturday) and it was such a fun, relaxing and delicious experience. It’s a little challenging to find the place if you’ve never been to the Fort Strip before. (The fact that we entered through the fire escape stairwell by accident didn’t help!) But once you get to the 3rd floor, you can’t miss it as their sign is displayed prominently at the front door. The place is spacious and can maybe seat around 20 or so people. Its huge windows let in a generous amount of natural light during the day and provide you with a lovely view of the urban city lights at night. There was a small corner elevated space that had bean bags when we visited and some toddlers were playing and reading there, lending to the laid-back vibe.

They have a wonderful menu that is small enough to not overwhelm. They also sell pastries you can see displayed by the counter and a couple of bottled drinks like kombucha. Service was friendly and our orders came after a short wait.

WHAT WE ORDERED:
Photo of Double Decker Burger and Mac and Cheese

Double Decker Vegan Burger - PHP 425
Two burger patties! This takes a big appetite to finish! It comes with sides and 3 kinds of homemade sauces to choose from. Heavenly and such a great thing to treat yourself to after a long week. They apparently use Beyond Meat patties for this burger!

Mac and Cheese (Single) - PHP 235
They have a range of pastas (even palabok!) that come in both single and family servings. If a place serves vegan mac and cheese you bet I’m going to give it a try! This one was very satisfying it was a lot meatier than I expected. It comes with toasted ciabatta bread.

Two Cheese Pizza (12 inch) - PHP 450
Probably my favorite of the items we tried! Just like the mac and cheese, vegan pizza is something I just have to try whenever I see it in the menu. The crust had just the right amount of crunch and the cheese was gooey and really delicious!

Photo of Buko Juice and milkshake

Buko Juice - PHP 85
Comes fresh in a real buko. I didn’t get to taste this but it was gone in a flash!

Strawberry Milkshake - PHP 160
I was delighted to see this topped with a load of (vegan) whipped cream. Even more of a pleasant surprise was how good and refreshing the blended strawberries tasted. Not artificial-tasting at all.

We were both stuffed and content after our meal but I was already planning on which items to try in our next visit. I definitely regret not buying a cake slice or cupcake to go!

This is such a great place to grab a bite for all occasions so make sure to add this to your list of restaurants to check out.

Dudi

I like movies with a reasonable amount of cheese and there's always a special place in my heart for bizarre films.
